KÖPPEN–GEIGER CLIMATE CLASSIFICATION

The Köppen–Geiger climate classification is a widely used global system that classifies climates into distinct types based primarily on patterns of temperature and precipitation and their relationship with vegetation.

For Cabo Verde, the Köppen–Geiger climate classification for the 1991–2020 climate normal period identifies five climate types:
BWh - Arid, desert, hot [255 0 0]
BWk - Arid, desert, cold [255 150 150]
BSh - Arid, steppe, hot [245 165 0]
BSk - Arid, steppe, cold [255 220 100]
Cwb - Temperate, dry winter, warm summer [100 200 100]

The KÖPPEN–GEIGER climate classification (1991–2020) GeoTIFF for the islands and islets of Cabo Verde was prepared by Nuno de Santos Loureiro by clipping the original dataset to the boundaries of the archipelago’s emerged land areas and reprojecting it from EPSG:4326 to EPSG:4826. The accompanying QGIS style file was also created by Nuno de Santos Loureiro.
