1968–2025 :: almost six decades of Land Cover/Land Use in the area of Praia Gonçalo, Maio island, Cabo Verde, told through four Remote Sensing images
This slideshow presents a chronological view of the changes that have taken place in the area of Praia Gonçalo, based on four Remote Sensing images dating from 1968, 1993, 2013 and 2025, respectively.
The 1968 image originates from an aerial survey conducted by the Portuguese Air Force (FAP), while the 1993 image was acquired during an aerial survey by KLM AeroCarto. Both were captured using analogue photographic equipment and black-and-white photographic film. These aerial photographs are currently being digitised and georeferenced as part of ongoing studies into the recent history of Land Cover/Land Use on Maio island, Cabo Verde. The 2013 image originates from a colour aerial photographic survey, while the 2025 image was acquired by the Pléiades satellite constellation, operated by Airbus Space Solutions, and is a Very High Resolution (VHR) image with a spatial resolution of 0.5 m.
